What counts as an analysis?
Each time you highlight text and receive a tone verdict, that is one analysis. Requesting a rewrite counts separately - so if you analyse a phrase and then ask for a rewrite, that is two actions total. We have anticipated this follow-up question and answered it here, in the FAQ, where it has always been.
How do I activate my plan after paying?
After payment, you will receive a license key by email. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive within a few minutes; it will be there. Open the Tact extension, click the settings icon in the top right of the popup, paste your key in, and hit Activate. Your plan updates immediately. This is not complicated.
Does the early adopter rate expire?
The $1/month rate is available to the first 250 subscribers only, locked in for three months from your subscription date, after which it reverts to $5/month - which is still not very much for something that stops you accidentally sounding passive-aggressive to your manager. The discount is applied automatically at checkout; no code needed. You will be notified before any rate change takes effect. We are not going to ambush you about it.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, whenever you like. To cancel, visit your
billing portal, enter the email you subscribed with, and Paddle will send you a magic link. From there you can cancel in one click. You keep access until the end of the billing period and then it is done, cleanly and without drama. No questions asked, no guilt trip, no sequence of increasingly desperate winback emails at 9am on a Tuesday. We respect your decision even if we find it professionally upsetting.
Does my license key work on multiple devices?
Your key is tied to one browser installation at a time, which is a reasonable arrangement. To use Tact on a different browser or device, open the settings screen in the extension and paste your key in there. If you need to transfer your key to a new device, email
[email protected] with your receipt and we will sort it out promptly and without making it a whole thing.
Is my text stored or used to train AI?
No. The text you highlight is sent to our API to generate a verdict and rewrite, then discarded. We do not store your message content, we do not use it for anything else, and we do not want it. We have enough going on. See our

What browsers does Tact work on?
Chrome and Firefox. It works across Gmail, Outlook, LinkedIn, Slack, and most other websites without any site-specific setup. You install it, you highlight text, it works. That is the entire process.
